Red-Purple-Gray: Scorpion

[Scorpion Army Barracks]

The walls of Scorpion Army's barracks are painted an oddly unreflective grey, with red and purple trim. A large, red and purple drawing of a scorpion is painted on the back wall, its stinger raised high, with smaller copies painted on every soldier's locker. Neat lettering on the wall under the scorpion reads "Kill or be killed". A markerboard hangs on the wall just to the left of the door, and a printout is taped to the wall below it.

The room is fairly tidy. Almost every bed is made neatly, and only a few stray belongings are scattered around... a desk under a bunk over there, a wadded-up uniform lying over here, a crumpled printout or two on the floor. It's likely, however, that if an inspection were imminent, the barracks would become immaculate faster than you could say, "Commander on deck!"

Obvious exits: [H]allway

Heyla! You've reached the web page with information about Scorpion Army on AnsibleMOO (telnet://ansiblemoo.org:8888). There's not much here. You can follow the links in the barracks description, or you can scroll down - to find the roster, the In Character rules, and, finally, some OOC notices and the IC markerboard. Caitlin graduated on February 4th, 2004, so this is only accurate to the second that she got her notice.

The roster is first on our tour. The way to distinguish NPCs from unPCs is color - if there's color in their name, they've got a player behind them. If there's not, they don't.

Also, all of those names - unPC and NPC alike - are last names, except for JimTwo, whose real name is James JimTwo Barney.

Six Simple Rules For Scorpions

  1. Respect everyone. You should show the most respect to the staffers, since they own you, body and soul. Next comes your commander, followed by your toon leader, then the other Scorpion toon leaders, followed by every other commander, followed by the rest of Scorpion, followed by the toon leaders of other armies, and lastly other soldiers and launchies.
  2. Obey all instructions given to you by someone who outranks you. If instructions conflict, follow the order given above. (Yes, this means a teacher can countermand any of my directions. If it happens, tell me ASAP.)
  3. If you have a problem with something your toon leader does, take it up with them before talking to me. If you have a problem with me, take it up with me before talking to anyone else. If you have a problem with a teacher, keep your mouth shut.
  4. Keep encounters with launchies to a minimum, both friendly and unfriendly. This is to prevent them from thinking that we are here to be their friends, since we are not, and also to prevent unnecessary abuse of them.
  5. You may not enter the battleroom during freeplay with anyone but other Scorpions unless you are ordered to do so by a staffer. There will be no exceptions and no excuses.
  6. Your bunk is an extension of you: keep it neat. The barracks is an extension of the army: soldiers from other armies are not welcome.

The Markerboard

First, for OOCish stuff. I got command on June 12th, 2003 (yay) which did not mark the re-activation of Scorpion. Just me getting out of active army life.

Scorpion had its first @battle on June 26th, 2003 (wee) which was a win against Lion.
The second @battle took place on July 10th, 2003, which was also a win against Manticore.
Third @battle: July 28, 2003, once again, a win - this time against Asp.
Fourth @battle was a win for Scorpion against Hound. (Hound's commander requested the @battle and randomly got us as an opponent.)
Fifth @battle: August 26, 2003, a win against Spider.
Sixth @battle: September 9, 2003, a loss (:() to Squirrel.
Seventh @battle: September 21, 2003, a win against Squirrel.
Eighth @battle: October 7, 2003, a loss (:() to Phoenix.
Ninth @battle: October 22, 2003, a win against Rat.
Tenth @battle: November 2, 2003, a win against Tide.
Eleventh @battle: December 1, 2003, a win against Lion.
Twelfth @battle: December 17th, 2003, a loss (:() to Asp.
Thirteenth @battle: January 1, 2004, a loss (:() to Squirrel.
Fourteenth @battle: January 11, 2004, a win against Griffin.
Fifteenth @battle: January 21, 2004, a loss (:() to Centipede.
Sixteenth @battle: January 31, 2004, a win against Phoenix.
Caitlin graduated on February 04, 2004, and I went back into active status.

I originally wanted  W X Y Z  for my toon letters, but in current Ansible toon-code, Z == 'no toon'. Then I wanted  A E I O , but O is not an option. A to E skips 3 letters, E to I skips three letters... but I + 4 is... M, and that's not available either. Frustration! So then I thought about the Greek letters... alpha, beta, gamma... delta. No good. ABGD would become ABDG. So I went for Iota.

If you're wondering why I wanted  A E I O  and not all five vowels? Because armies have four toons, not five, and That's The Way It's Always Been. Why didn't I settle for three? Well, aside from the fact that armies have four and not three toons... 40 does not divide evenly by three.

Now for the IC markerboard! Caitlin is the keeper of the Purple Marker.

Last Battle:   WIN
      23 Scorpions able to shoot
     (23 more than last battle)

Iota-toon has doorguard duty this week.
